This is the first artwork by a Bulgarian author to be presented in an urban environment in the French capital, a project carried out in cooperation with the Paris gallery Michel Rein. The 4-metre sculpture, shaped like a candlestick, will be put up to welcome visitors to the FIAC International Contemporary Art Fair from October 18 to 21. The monument makes a poetic allusion to a landmark work by Marcel Duchamp – “Bottle Rack”. Stefan Nikolaev’s sculpture was selected by a jury out of works by 30 authors form Europe, USA and Asia, among them names like Rosa Barba, Christian Marclay, Ugo Rondinone.

“The symbol is electricity and light in modern society, the things that keep us together more in one place, and help us overcome the bounds of space and time,” says Vesselina Sarieva from Sariev Contemporary Gallery, who represents the artist, for Dnevnik newspaper.
