The Bulgarian authorities must answer a request of Germany’s Public Prosecution Office whether prisons in Bulgaria meet a minimum of European standards. Only after that the German side will make a final decision on the extradition of Severin Krasimirov, a suspect for the rape and killing of Bulgarian journalist Viktoria Marinova.
A statement to this effect has been made by the German Public Prosecution Office to the Bulgarian media outlet 24 Hours. In order to make a decision Germany expects to have the confirmation of the Bulgarian authorities that Bulgarian prisons correspond to European standards in terms of a minimum area of the cell, conditions in it, etc.
Severin Krasimirov has provided information about the case to the court of justice. He has consented to a simple procedure so as to be returned to Bulgaria as soon as possible. After all necessary documents are available he will be brought back in about 10 days.
