Marine Le Pen, leader of the French extreme right-wing party National Rally joined the working meeting of the group Europe of Nations and Freedom, which brought together, in Sofia, nationalist and populist allies from Eastern Europe.

The meeting was called to draft a common strategy for the elections for European Parliament in 2019. Marine Le Pen pointed to the EU as “Europe’s biggest enemy”. The forum was hosted by the chairman of Volya party Veselin Mareshki, at whose invitation Marine Le Pen is visiting Bulgaria.

Mareshki stated he stood for a renaissance of true patriotism, and accused the EU of failure to react when, a year ago, he alerted the European authorities that there is a fuel cartel in Bulgaria. “That is not the kind of EU we like – scared, uninterested, helpless,” Mareshki said.
