On November 20 the Sofia-based gallery Sredets launched an exposition entitled “Hues and sounds”. The exhibition is dedicated to the 110th anniversary since the birth of prominent Bulgarian composer Marin Goleminov. The collection shows photos from the youth of the composer with his then future wife – Lilia Nichkova, their wedding, meetings with friends and hikes in the mountains. Schollars dealing with the artist’s works show special interest in the facsimiles of letters from Goleminov’s tutors Joseph Haas, Paul Ducas, as well as Bulgarian conductors, composers, music pedagogues like Panka Pelishek, Dobrin Petkov, Dimitar Nenov and Konstantin Iliev. The exposition also shows photos from the guest performances abroad of the ballet show “Nestinarks” (fire dancer) and numerous concerts across the country and abroad. Special place is dedicated to the role of Marin Goleminov as a conductor. Among the organizers of the exposition, as well as the events marking the composer’s anniversary, is his granddaughter Lilia Goleminiva, who spoke about the collection of photos at the opening of the exhibition. Words of gratitude and praise were also addressed by one of the composer’s students, prominent Bulgarian conductor Professor Plamen Dzhourov. Young pianist Angela Todorova performed clavier works by Marin Goleminov to close the event.
