In the period November29 to December6, the new Bulgarian cinema pays a visit to Montreal. La Cinémathèque québécoise will screen 26 movie titles of all genres from the past 20 years, some of which have prestigious awards and nominations from various festivals around the world. Selected movies include both international co-productions and smaller, low-budget works. The aim is to present Bulgarian cinema to a wide range of Canadian and international audiences. This has been the second-ever retrospective of Bulgarian cinema in Canada since 2001. The opening comes with a movie on stories by Georgi Gospodinov "8 minutes and 19 seconds". Among the titles are: Vivaldi Winter, the latest animation of Oscar-nominated director, Theodore Ushev, "Touch" by Velislav Kazakov, who has been living and working in Montreal, as well as the Bulgarian-Canadian co-production "New Life" by Stefan Ivanov.
