Exponents from the Louvre collection tell the story of Apollonia Pontica (now Sozopol). The world-famous museum sent to Bulgaria a series of artefacts, including a bronze statue of god Pan, a fragment of a stone plate depicting warriors, a clay plate from the island of St Cyril dating back to the end of the 6th and the beginning of the 5th century BC, a female bust dating back to the year 120 AD, etc. The start of the archaeological research in Apollonia Pontica was given in the remote 1904 by the French diplomat Baron Jules Alexandre Degrand. All exponents were arranged in an exhibition which traces the history of the town and its adjacent territories with their institutions, architecture and daily life. It consists of over 500 artefacts organized accordingly with the male, female and the child activities. A ritual sword, a bronze gold-coated wrath, golden jewelry, dolls, animal figurines, etc, are among the exponents. The Regional Historical Museum in Sofia hosts the Apollonia Pontica exhibition until March 10, 2019.
