A few months ahead of the elections for European Parliament, VMRO- Bulgarian National Movement party became a member of the Alliance of Conservatives and Reformists in Europe (ACRE).
The decision was made at a forum of the Alliance in Rome. VMRO states that the party joined ACRE after the membership of the Justice and Development Party of Turkish President Recep Erdogan was terminated, as its membership had been a deterrent to the accession of the Bulgarian nationalist party to the conservative alliance.
VMRO stated that its accession to the alliance is an exceptional acknowledgement of its activities, and of the work of VMRO MEP and deputy chairman of VMRO party Angel Dzhambazki, who has been part of the European Conservatives and Reformists Group in European Parliament for five years.
