The state to stimulate tuition in majors with labour shortages

By amendments to the Higher Education Act, university students will be exempted from tuition fees in branches with labour shortages.

Such branches are chemistry and physical science, mathematics, religion, power generation. According to Education Minister Krasimir Valchev, a dramatic shortage is expected on the labour market, of mathematics and physics teachers, hydro engineers, energy, electrical engineering, machine building and IT specialists. At the same time the number of admissions will be reduced for subjects like agrarian economy and tourism.
