Bulgarian Minister of Transport Rossen Zhelyazkov has discussed with Turkey's Ambassador to Bulgaria Hasan Ulusoy the current situation on the Turkish-Bulgarian border, where cars and trucks have been passing with delays. The ambassador informed Minister Zhelyazkov that on April 11, 2019 at Turkish border checkpoints, including those with Bulgaria, an integrated system for managing and collecting fees and fines related to the use of the Turkish road Infrastructure, has started functioning on exits from Turkey. Mr. Ulusoy denied that vehicles were deliberately delayed. Regarding complaints from some Bulgarian drivers because of high fines, the ambassador pointed out that the amount of unpaid tolls or fines could be disputed according to the law, but according to Turkish legislation it was necessary to pay the fine first.
