There is great potential for deepening bilateral relations in the sphere of energy, where Russia and Bulgaria are long-standing partners. This is what the President of the Bulgarian National Assembly Tsveta Karayancheva said in her statement to the members of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.

Karayancheva added that energy cooperation should be continued in line with the principles of feasibility, competitiveness, transparency, security of supplies and market-based price. She pointed out that this country supports the possibility of a branch of "Turkish Stream" passing through the territory of Bulgaria at the backdrop of the creation of the regional gas hub "Balkan". This would provide real diversification of gas supplies and competitive prices, Karayancheva added.

Later, at a meeting with the Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin Tsveta Karayancheva noted that Bulgaria is interested in intensifying the economic relations between the two countries on a mutually beneficial and pragmatic basis.
