Animals in Dobrich Zoo cool down with ice cream

Photo: tvn.bg

In the hot August days, the bears Berna and Kostadin at the Nature and Animal Protection Center in Dobrich are cooling down with fruit ice cream. The ice-cream is prepared in a 10-liter container with water, grapes, cubed apples, plums, pears, and is sweetened with honey. Everything is frozen and then the container is cut away so that the bears can enjoy the huge ice lollipop. In the heat, zoo animals eat more green vegetables and their water is changed three times a day to keep them cool. The Center for Nature and Animal Protection in Dobrich was built according to a Bulgarian-Swiss project. It has rich vegetation and more than 300 animals of 65 species live on an area of 16 hectares. The zoo is the first licensed one in Bulgaria.
