Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev voiced concern with the lack of progress in the work of the joint Bulgaria-North Macedonia Commission of Historical and Educational Issues. President Radev told the Bulgarian members of the commission that Bulgaria should continue supporting the Euro-Atlantic integration of North Macedonia, but this should not happen at the expense of the Bulgarian history, language and identity. If within one month time there is no guarantee that all controversial issues about events, personalities, changes in textbooks, museum inscriptions, etc, will be solved, the Bulgarian government should work out a new national position that will defend the Bulgarian interest during the negotiations for accession of North Macedonia to the European Union, President Radev further said.
