Today is Archangel All Souls' Day and believers recall of the care of God’s angels for the dead. According to Orthodox tradition, Saturday is a day to commemorate the dead, so Archangel All Souls' Day is marked on the first Saturday before Archangel's Day – November 8. The day is also dedicated to the fallen warriors. On this day in Orthodox churches there are memorial services held for all whom we have lost. People also bring flowers to the graves of their beloved ones. In the past, the oldest woman in family used to pour red wine over the grave of a relative. A burning candle on the grave is a symbol of faith as the flame reminds us of the immortality of souls.
