Plovdiv – European capital of culture 2019

Pianists from nine countries with concerts in four towns in Bulgaria

Sixteen pianists from Germany, Italy, Russia, Canada, Korea, Japan, Slovakia, Bulgaria and the Philippines will give four concerts in the Bulgarian towns which took part in the contest for European capital of culture – Plovdiv (16 November), Sofia (18 November), Veliko Turnovo (21 November) and Varna (23 November). Under the baton of conductor Grigor Palikarov, the musicians will perform works by Carl Orff, Gioachino Rossini, Carl Czerny, Richard Wagner, Darius Milhaud, George Gershwin and others. On the day of the concert in Veliko Turnovo, talented child pianists from the town will be able to take part in the master class by Bulgarian pianist Prof. Tomislav Baynov. The master class will also be joined by pianists of world renown - Winfried Rompf, Dorothy Uytengsu, Jenia Lubenova-Keller and Sirma Velichkova. The cultural event is part of the programme Plovdiv European Capital of Culture 2019.
