The forum “How to have energy independence” taking place in Sofia is focusing on good European practices for the generation of electricity from renewable sources and the “Clean energy for all Europeans” package.
The event is organized by the Bureau of the European Parliament and Greenpeace, Bulgaria. The package was approved by the EU in 2018, along with the revised renewable energy directive. European legislation acknowledges the role of people, but also entitles them to produce, consume, sell and store renewable energy. Bulgaria aims to speed up this process. To that end the forum is discussing future steps aimed at involving more users in this process.
