Bulgaria's specialized prosecutor's office has interrogated Deputy Minister of Environment and Water Krassimir Zhivkov over the water crisis in Pernik. Zhivkov was named by the lawyers of the arrested environment minister Neno Dimov, who filed his resignation on Friday, as the man who was directly responsible for the management of dams in the environment ministry. Zhivkov stated that the Pernik Water Supply Company was the one which proposed how much water from the Studena Reservoir was to be supplied for drinking and domestic needs. In November, the water supply company allocated 1.6 million cubic metres, while the ministry allowed them to use only 1 million cubic metres. The piping of water to industrial plants was also suspended on November 19.

So far, the only defendant in the Pernik water crisis remains Neno Dimov, who is under arrest.
