“The Bulgarian government’s intention to purchase another 8 new F-16 fighter aircraft should be well thought out,” the new commander of the Bulgarian air force Major-General Dimitar Petrov said for the BNR.

In his words this decision raises a number of issues such as the training of the flight personnel and the lack of infrastructure for the new aircraft.

The construction of the infrastructure for the 8 F-16s which Bulgaria has already paid for is only just beginning.

“At this time we do not have a sufficient number of pilots for these aircraft, and we shall have to have pilots trained abroad. When it comes to serious things like aviation and combat aircraft having more does not always mean good results,” Major General Dimitar Petrov.
