UEFA relocates European Qualifier Bulgaria vs Hungary to Sofia

Following an unprecedented decision from the authorities in Plovdiv to revoke their authorisation to host the European Qualifier match Bulgaria vs Hungary, in breach of the preliminary agreement for the use of the Hristo Botev Stadium, UEFA ordered the game to be played at the Vasil Levski National Stadium in Sofia on 16 November behind closed doors, the Bulgarian Football Union said.

"Tragicomedy is the best way to describe the situation with the Hungary-Bulgaria game and the confusion over where the match will be played two days before the date," Hungarian media reacted.

Meanwhile, Sports Minister Dimitar Iliev has ordered immediate action to ensure that the national stadium is ready to host both teams.
