Number of Covid-19 related deaths rises by 50% in a week

There are no regions in Bulgaria that fall into the green zone, it was reported. In the past 3 days Bulgaria has registered record high levels of coronavirus morbidity - an average of 220 people per 100,000, said at a briefing of the National Operational Headquarters for Combating the Coronavirus Epidemic, Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Boyko Penkov. The growth of patients is 102%. There is an increase in the number of deaths in the country, as only for the last week it is by 50%, Penkov added. According to statistics, Bulgaria ranks second in the Balkans in terms of morbidity and 21st in Europe. In terms of mortality, Bulgaria is 10th in the EU

Rumen Radev isolates himself because of coronavirus case in Presidency

The reason for the quarantine is a positive test for coronavirus ofSecretary General of the President, Dimitar Stoyanov, the press office of President Rumen Radev has reported. The Sofia Regional Health Inspectorate has been notified, and all measures have been taken for the normal functioning of the presidential institution. President Radev, as well as the employees with whom Stoyanov was in contact, will work remotely under prescription of the Sofia Health Inspectorate.

Bulgaria's Minister of Education calls for in-person training in schools

I still think that face-to-face training is the best. There are deficits in e-learning related to socialization, mental fatigue, Education Minister Krassimir Valchev said. At a briefing of the Ministry of Health, dedicated to the situation with Covid-19, Minister Valchev explained that there were no easy solutions, no single formula to balance between health protection and normal living, studying and working relatively normally. Schools should not close first, action should be taken locally, Minister Valchev added, quoted by BTA. Data show that schools are not the most epidemic environment, but for the past 20 days 4 teachers have died, Valchev pointed out.

Bulgaria reports new record in daily cases of Covid-19

Bulgaria has registered a total of 2,760 new cases of coronavirus in the country for the past 24 hours, the National Coronavirus Information Portal shows. This is 27.7% of the 9,946 PCR tests performed. The highest number of new infections has been registered in Sofia-city - 1,075 cases, followed by Plovdiv with 206 positive cases and Blagoevgrad with 160 cases. There have been 36 new fatalities related to Covid-19. The number of recovered patients over the past day has reached 216. Currently, the number of active cases in Bulgaria is 25,105, of which 2,316 are hospitalized. There are 162 people in intensive care wards.

Bulgarian Medical Union is launching a campaign to recruit medical students - volunteers

They should support the activities of the medical institutions when needed in the country, the press center of the organization announced. The BMU points out that in the conditions of a second much stronger wave of Covid-19 the hospitals are on the verge of personnel collapse.
