Bulgaria reports 772 new cases of Covid-19, or 21% of tests made

Bulgaria has registered 772 new cases of coronavirus for the last 24 hours. This is 21% of the 3,669 tests performed. Of these, there are 2,407 PCR tests (627 positive) and 1,262 antigen tests (145 positive).

The highest number of new cases is reported in Sofia - 139, followed by Varna - 72, and Burgas - 57. This is shown by the data of the National Information Portal at midnight.

There are currently 5,671 people in hospital, 521 of whom are in intensive care units.

In the past day, 1,215 persons were cured and 45 people infected with Covid-19 passed away.

Bulgaria's Patriarch Neophyte says special prayer for coping with pandemic during festive Nativity liturgy

His Holiness the Bulgarian Patriarch and Metropolitan of Sofia Neophyte has led the festive liturgy on the occasion of the Nativity of Christ. He greeted the Christians with the words: "In the days and months of new and severe trials, which we share with the whole world and all humanity, we are again overtaken by the one-of-a-kind joy and hope that rose today with Christ's Nativity."

A prayer to address the coronavirus pandemic was also read during the service.

Dancers from Philip Koutev Folk Ensemble with surprise for Pirogov doctors on Christmas

The famous Bulgarian folk ensemble Philip Kutev have organized a special Christmas surprise at the largest emergency aid hospital in Bulgaria - Sofia-based Pirogov hospital, BNT reported.

With an impromptu concert in the hospital yard, the dancers created a festive mood for the healthcare professionals on the frontline - the heroes of this year, who are at work on Christmas and New Year.

The Philip Koutev ensemble is also planning a charity concert for the doctors on the front line.
