740 new cases of Covid-19
Bulgaria has registered a total of 740 new cases of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours. 17.9% of the 4,129 tests performed returned positive, according to the Unified Information Portal. Most new infections are in Sofia-city - 267, followed by Varna - 74 and Burgas – 67. The number of active cases currently stands at 68,977. There are 10,649 people being treated in hospital as 747 patients are in intensive care wards. The death toll for the past 24 hours reached 82. The number of recoveries was 858. The overall number of vaccinations has reached 503,570. A total of 1,492 people were vaccinated in the last 24 hours. There are 100,887 people who have received both doses.
Nurseries and kindergartens now open
Bulgarian kindergartens opened today. This happened after an order of the Minister of Health and in compliance with anti-epidemic measures. Nurseries and kindergartens had been closed for two weeks due to a nationwide lockdown. On April 12 students will return to the classrooms according to a schedule that is to be prepared by the health and education authorities.
General Practitioners in Bulgaria to receive Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines
A total of 62,010 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine arrived in Bulgaria today. This is the first delivery of a total of 2.7 million doses of the mRNA vaccine that this country should receive by the end of June. We expect additional 500,000 doses of "Moderna", as well as vector vaccines - over 1 million from "AstraZeneca" and 550,000 doses of "Johnson and Johnson". The news was reported by the executive director of the Bulgarian Drug Agency, Bogdan Kirilov, quoted by BGNES.
Requirement for 5-day quarantine for Bulgarian arrivals in Italy stays
Italy has extended the 5-day quarantine measure for people arriving from Bulgaria, which will be in force until April 30, 2021, the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reported.
