EU’s Covid-19 certificate must not lead to discrimination

Covid-19 tests in Greek place Bulgarians under 10-day quarantine

Covid-19 test results written in Greek, which were presented to the health authorities at the Kulata border checkpoint by Bulgarian citizens returning from an organized trip to Greece, caused the tourists to be placed under a 10-day quarantine, the Regional Health Inspectorate in Blagoevgrad has reported. "Our employees have done a perfect job. We are not obliged to read Greek," the health inspectorate said, BNR correspondent Katie Trencheva reported. An order from the Minister of Health states that when entering Bulgaria, both Bulgarians and citizens from other EU countries must present negative PCR or antigen tests written in Latin and performed in licensed laboratories.

Fast tests for Covid-19 will be conducted on border with Turkey

Starting June 1st, those entering Turkey will be able to take a quick test for coronavirus at the Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint on the Bulgarian-Turkish border. The news was reported by the chairman of Edirne Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Recep Zipkinkurt. The test, which will be performed in laboratory conditions by the Turkish health authorities in Kapikule, will cost 110 Turkish Lira or about 10 euros. The result will be ready in 30 minutes. According to Zipkinkurt, this will attract tourists from Bulgaria to visit the market in Edirne again and will revive the city's trade and economy. Because of the requirement for a negative test for tourists coming from Bulgaria, travel and trade in Edirne had stopped.
