Alarming UN data on the use of alcohol and cigarettes among students

13% of boys and 11% of 11-year-old girls in Bulgaria smoked at least one cigarette in the past 30 days of the survey, BGNES reported, referring to a UN report on the healthy behavior of school-age children. 17% of boys under 13 also use cigarettes. 

The regional averages for Europe, Central Asia and Canada are 2% for boys and girls at 11 years of age, 5% for boys and 6% for girls at 13 years of age, and 15% for both sexes at 15 years of age. Data on e-cigarettes are mirrored. Over 30% of Bulgarian students aged 15 have used an electronic cigarette. When it comes to alcohol consumption, Bulgarian boys are at the top of the chart. 20% of 11-year-olds consumed alcohol at least once for the past 30 days. The indicator rises to 32% among 13-year-olds. Bulgarian 15-year-old boys also lead the ranking in the use of cannabis - 19%.
