Taking a journalist’s question whether the USA would deploy troops in Bulgaria, as announced by the New York Times, President Rossen Plevneliev said that up to date Bulgaria’s government has received no particular suggestion on the matter. “If we do receive such a proposal, we will approach it responsibly”, the Head of State further said. He explained that Bulgaria as a trustworthy NATO member, keeps to the readiness plan, adopted at the Wales Summit in September 2014, held in the context of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. “So far we are following the idea of the USA for heightening the level of security in the region”, President Plevneliev went on to say.
