Number of newly infected Covid-19 patients is higher than recoveries
The new cases of coronavirus infection in this country are 883 after 10,541 tests performed, according to the latest data from the Single Coronavirus Information Portal. Positive samples reached 8.3%. Most of the new cases are in the capital city - 226, followed by Plovdiv with 67 and Burgas with 63 cases.

There are 20,545 active Covid-19 cases. 3,033 patients are being treated in hospitals. 277 patients are in intensive care. 54 people passed away in the past day. 780 people have recovered. For the first time in a month, the number of newly infected per day exceeds the number of recoveries.

3901 people have been vaccinated in the past 24 hours. The total number of vaccinated people has already reached 54,025 and 17,096 people have already received a second dose of the vaccine.

Rapid antigen testing will not replace PCR tests at borders
Reiterating expectations of a new third wave of coronavirus, Bulgaria’s Chief Health Inspector Assoc. Prof. Angel Kunchev has told BNT that very often pandemics occur in two or three waves. This had been observed in bird and swine flu, as well as in Spanish flu.
Speaking about calls for the introduction of antigen tests for those arriving from abroad, Kunchev said that the PCR test was the golden standard. If we want to make sure that we do not miss a case, this is the test that gives us a full guarantee. Rapid tests are for the convenience of citizens, but when it comes to border control purposes there are very few countries that accept rapid tests. Most require PCR tests and for the time being this will remain so.

No need for tightening anti-epidemic measures, but control will be increased
There is no increase in the incidence of Covid-19 by more than 10%, which does not require a change in the anti-epidemic measures, said the director of Sofia's emergency hospital Pirogov, Prof. Dr. Asen Baltov. However, the control over their observance will be increased.
This became clear after a meeting of the directors of Sofia-based hospitals with Health Minister Kostadin Angelov due to the return of the capital city in the red zone by the number of people infected with Covid-19.
Some 280 vaccination points will be created throughout the country, which will be visible on a special platform, Health Minister Kostadin Angelov announced today in Parliament.

Bulgaria remains last in terms of vaccination levels
Since the beginning of the campaign for mass immunization against Covid -19, which started on December 27, 2020, Bulgaria remains last in terms of vaccination levels, which are 5 times lower than the EU average or 10 times lower than those in more developed countries.

According to the latest data, the total number of vaccinated people in this country is just 54,025 and 17,096 people have received a second vaccine dose.

Campaign in support of Bulgarian production starts
Business organizations and the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency are launching a campaign in support of Bulgarian production under the title "Your Choice Matters". The goal is to support the growth of Bulgarian economy in a year of crisis. The information campaign is aimed at helping to overcome the economic consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic and in particular the decline in goods produced in Bulgaria in the past 2020.

The campaign is based on data that show the possibilities for compensating for the decline in exports in 8 categories through joint actions of Bulgarian consumers and choosing domestic products, "Horizont" program of the Bulgarian National Radio has reported.
